Dental Treatment in Turkey: A Practical Guide for International Patients

Every year hundreds of thousands of patients from the UK, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, the Gulf and Central Asia travel to Turkey for dental treatment. The reasons are simple: dentists trained to European standards, modern clinics and prices that are typically 50 to 70 percent lower than at home, even with flights and hotels included. Most patients come home delighted. A minority come home with problems, and almost every one of those problems can be traced to a decision made before the flight was booked. This guide is about making the right decisions.

1. Decide what you actually need before you compare prices

The most common mistake is to search for a treatment, for example "Turkey teeth veneers", and then compare clinics on the price of that treatment. But you may not need veneers. You may need whitening and two crowns, or aligners, or a couple of implants and nothing else. A clinic that quotes you twenty veneers on the basis of a selfie is telling you what it sells, not what you need.

Start instead with your own goals. Which teeth bother you and why? Do you want a natural improvement or a dramatic change? How long can you stay? Then ask each clinic for a diagnosis-led plan. A good clinic will ask for photographs and, ideally, a recent panoramic X-ray, and will offer options with the trade-offs explained. 2. Questions to ask a clinic before you book

• Who will treat me? Ask for the names and qualifications of the dentists, and whether a specialist (for example a prosthodontist for crowns and veneers, or a surgeon for implants) is involved.
• Which materials and brands? Implant brand, type of zirconia or porcelain, laboratory. Reputable clinics answer without hesitation.
• Is the price fixed? Ask for an itemised written quote and confirm what is included: temporaries, follow-up, night guard, revisions.
• How many visits and days? Be suspicious of anyone who promises implants and final teeth in one short trip; bone needs months to heal.
• What happens if there is a problem after I go home? Ask how remote follow-up works and what documentation you receive.
• Can I speak to the dentist? Sales staff are fine for logistics, but treatment questions should be answered by a dentist.

3. How many days to allow

Build in a day of slack at the end of each visit. Porcelain sometimes needs a second adjustment, and you do not want to be adjusting a bite in the taxi to the airport.

4. Why some patients choose Konya instead of the coast

6. Aftercare and follow-up
